Location: Del Mar, Calif.
Price: $26,500,000
The Skinny: Just steps from the sand in Del Mar, Calif., this Mediterranean-style beach house was built by architect Bob Ray Offenhauser for none other than Colleen Knapp, the founder of Architectural Digest. The half-acre compound, dubbed Seven Arches, measures some 6,550 square feet, with, as you might have guessed, seven arches, all arranged around the swimming pool, five bedrooms, a two-story great room, media room, gym, and gourmet kitchen. Picking up the former home of the "international design authority" founder was never going to be a cheap proposition, but isn't $26.5M is a terribly steep price to pay for a pink castle on the sand?
